GMS Cafeteria Manager Participating in Culinary Specialist Training

Summer Harman, Cafeteria Manager at Greeneville Middle School, was selected from applicants statewide to participate in the Tennessee School Nutrition Association’s Culinary Specialist Training. The academy curriculum includes training methods, knife skills, spice and seasoning profiles, and marketing techniques for managers.  

Since taking on her role as Cafeteria Manager earlier this year, Summer has been passionate about learning and sharing ideas to increase cafeteria participation. She is an innovative employee who is enthusiastic about trying new recipes and ideas to increase breakfast and lunch participation.

"Summer worked diligently on her essay to apply for the program, I truly believe her acceptance is well deserved,” says Johnna Beard, Child Nutrition Director. “We are excited for her to take advantage of this opportunity and share what she learns with our district cafeterias.”
