The Greeneville Sun has a great article about these students. Click here to read it.

Hunter Mason and Kodiak Cannedy competed the weekend of Macrch 24th and 25th in one of the largest middle school tournaments in the Nation in Virginiaa Beach. They wrestled kids from Arizona to New Jersey. Hunter lost in the first round to the eventual champion. He did not wrestle again until Sunday. He then reeled off seven victories in a row (in one day!) to come back and took third place. Kodiak made it to the round of sixteen before losing to the eventual champion. He also reeled off 5 wins to come back and take 3rd. They were invited and are wrestled in Iowa Easter weekend in a team tournament.

Great things ahead for these two boys. To the best of Coach Shelton's knowledge, they are the only two GMS wrestlers to have competed in this tourney. They are our first ever All-Americans in wrestling.

Iowa Tournament:

Hunter Mason and Kodiak Cannedy were invited to participate in a Team Middle School wrestling tournament in Iowa Easter Weekend.

This tourney featured competitors from Iowa, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Montana, in addition to many other states. Most teams were made up of state champion and state placer wrestlers.

Hunter went 7-1 and Kodiak went 8-0. Because of their performance, they were named All-American for the second time.
