Education

I have been fortunate to have had strong parental guidance and caring teachers that have encouraged me to succeed in all levels of my educational journey. Glenwood Elementary School reinforced the values I first learned from my Dad and Mom. West Greene High School introduced me to what would become my life's career as well as appreciation of community and team spirit. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Tusculum College. My preparation at Tusculum College to teach K-8 and 9-12 English allowed me membership into the ranks of Highly Qualified teachers.I teach at GMS with a specific middle grades certification.

Experience

I have been a member of the Greeneville Middle School faculty since 1992. Eight years were spent teaching 8th grade language arts. The 2016-2017 school year will be my 14th year teaching 7th grade language arts.

I currently serve as Greeneville Middle School's Language Team Leader or department chairperson.  As ELA team leader, I represent GMS on our district's Writing, RTI, and AR teams. I share take aways from these meetings at out school level ELA, RTI, and Leadership teams.

I have presented with other teacher friends at educational conferences in Nashville, Tennessee; Houston, Texas; Louisville, Kentucky; etc.

I am a member and former president of Greeneville/Greene County's Delta Kappa Gamma society.  I've held offices as a member of Greeneville Education Association. As a member of GEA, I'm also very active in Tennessee Education Association too.

Bio

I live in Greene County with my husband, Archie. Spending time with the people who have encouraged who I've become is extremely important to me. My family means a great deal to me. My neice and nephews bring me a lot of laughs and help me keep my career as a teacher, not just a profession, but also a personal concern too. I hope to work with my colleagues to help prepare for a more successful and rewarding educational future for our community's children.

This is my 22nd year as a language arts teacher at Greeneville Middle School. This my 11th year as English Language Arts Team Leader.
