T-Dap Vaccination Requirements for 7th Grade Entry

To the parents of rising 7th grade students:

Currently enrolled students who are entering 7th grade are required to have a Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (“T-dap”).   One T-dap dose must be given before 7th  grade entry--administered at or after age 10--regardless of tetanus immunization history.

To assist parents in obtaining this vaccination, the Greene County Health Department will be offering a T-dap vaccination clinic during the school day on May 19th, beginning at 9 AM.   Students must have written parental consent to participate in this vaccination clinic. 6th Grade students will bring permission forms home on Thursday, April 29th.  Permission forms must be returned by the end of the school day on Thursday, May 6th.

Current estimates are that a COVID 19 vaccine is going to be available for children 12 and older starting during the month of May.   No other vaccinations can be given for 2 weeks before the 1st COVID injection  until 2 weeks after the last COVID vaccination (this amounts to a period of 7 weeks).   If you are considering having your child immunized for COVID 19 this summer, please plan accordingly to make sure you have completed the T-dap prior to the start of the 21-22 school year.
