On July 17,2018, the Tennessee Department of Education publicly released both state and district results from the 2017-2018 TNReady Assessment. TNReady is a part of the statewide Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program, TCAP, and is designed to assess true student understanding, not just basic memorization and test-taking skills.
The Greeneville City School District was highlighted by the state department of education as one of only 6 districts to score in the top five for growth and top five in overall achievement for a particular subject or grade band. The Greeneville City School District was recognized for both growth and achievement in the area of high school US History.
In addition, the district was recognized by the state for top ten rankings in five areas: High School Science ranked 2nd, High School US History ranked 2nd, High School Math ranked 3rd, High School ELA ranked 5th, and Grades 5-8 Science ranked 10th.
“We are pleased with the performance exhibited by our students and the instruction provided by our teachers. We celebrate the hard work of our students and staff,” says Mr. Steve Starnes, Director of Schools.
Dr. Suzanne Bryant, Assistant Director for Instruction, echoes the praise, “We are proud of the results. The district scored significantly above the state in all areas and had top 10 rankings in five areas. Our students and educators have worked diligently to meet the increased academic demands of more rigorous standards and testing.”
