Welcome to 6th Grade Math

Greetings! I am Tallye Gass, a 6th grade math teacher at Greeneville Middle School. If you are visiting this page, more than likely I have the honor of being your child's teacher.  Let me share some things with you...

I was fortunate enough to spend all of my K-12 education in the Greeneville City Schools and was graduated from GHS in 1992.  I attended East Tennessee State University and received my Bachelors degree in Mass Communications.  I focused on Public Relations and design, and I studied Appalachian Studies as my minor.  After working in this field for a few years, I returned to ETSU to complete my Master of Arts in Teaching, a fast-track program for people who want to teach and have a degree in another field.  In 2010, I completed my Educational Specialist degree in Administration.

My teaching career began as an interim teacher in the Greene County School system.  Following this, I taught 6th grade science for five years in Hamblen County.  When I started teaching in Greeneville City Schools, I was a 7th grade Social Studies teacher for my first year.  Since then I have taught math in 7th grade until joining the 6th grade team in 2018-19 school year.

That's all the boring stuff...now for the GOOD stuff!

I'm passionate about helping kids be a better version of themselves and learning how to lift themselves and others up.  I'm passionate about helping kids find what they love. I'm passionate about making school a place they love to come to every day even when the expectations for them are high. I love learning and I want kids to know learning is happening all the time even when we don't even realize it.

I have a crazy good family!  My husband and I have 3 kids.  We have two at GHS and one at EastView.  They get along most of the time and are really sarcastic and funny.  Our cat is a diva and will headbutt you when she feels she needs attention.  My favorite thing to do in my free time is to read.  That sounds horribly boring, but I read all sorts of books and love how words can create such awesome feelings when you read a great story.  I wish I could name a favorite, but I sorta love them all.  I am also a huge fan of music, and I love it all, too!!  I was born and raised here, and I'm grateful to be a part of the system in which I was educated.
