Leader In Me: The 7 Habits in Review - Focus During School Closure

LIM groups:  it's your time to shine at home, school, or wherever you are!  Show those leadership skills that we've been talking about all year!

Habit 1:  Be Proactive - Do your chores without complaining, keep your room in order, and be helpful in general.  Consider what is in your circle of control and what is not.  Choose to be positive in what you can control.

Habit 2:  Begin with the End in Mind - Think about how you want your time at home to end and start there.  How do you want your parent(s) or guardian(s) to see you?  How is your relationship with your siblings?  Focus on the principles that are most important to you (respect, kindness, honesty) and live your life during this time honorably.

Habit 3:  Put First Things First - This is a great time to organize and prioritize!  When school reopens, think about coming back with a new mindset..with a fresh start.  Begin with the most important things and do everything else later.

Habit 4:  Think Win-Win - Use courage and consideration to ensure you are focusing on mutual benefit in your relationships.  How is everyone winning?  Make a plan to have an "Everyone Can Win" attitude!  Make lots of positive deposits in others' emotional bank accounts.

Habit 5:  Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood - Genuinely listen to others not only with your ears but also with your eyes and heart.  Avoid interrupting your family members as they share things with you.

Habit 6:  Synergize - This is the habit we will start learning about when we return to school.  We will learn to work together to achieve more.  Consider how you achieve more with your family when you value your differences and trust each other.  Did you work on a project together as a family?  Did you develop your relationships during this time together?  Think about what you can share about synergizing!

Habit 7:  Sharpen Your Saw - Do something enjoyable while you're home during the school closure.  This is renewal of body, mind, and spirit.  Learn early that it's important to live a balanced life.  What can you share about sharpening your saw?
